Welcome to the website of the Richmond Police Department, which provides law enforcement services to the Town of Richmond, Rhode Island, comprised of 40-square-miles of land area and approximately 8,000 residents. This site was created to familiarize residents and visitors with the Richmond Police Department's personnel, activity, and to provide useful information through it's content and associated links.
The Richmond Police Department completed it's 2014 Police Officer Recruitment Process, and hired two (2) new officers, Patrolmen Ryan Donohue and Michael Jacome, after they successfully completed a rigorous 22-week law enforcement training program at the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy. Patrolmen Donohue and Jacome began working on patrol in Richmond on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2014. The Department is currently completing it's 2015 Police Officer Recruitment Process in order to fill a vacant patrol officer's position, which will bring the total number of full-time sworn police officers to fourteen (14).
The Department is also staffed with one (1) full-time Animal Control officer, three (3) full-time dispatchers, one (1) full-time administrative assistant, and several part-time Animal Control and Dispatch personnel.
